Construction Internhip
Locations: Greenville, SC and Asheville, NC
Employment Type: Full-Time, Temporary (Seasonal)
Reports To: Superintendent
About the Role
The Construction Internship is built for students who want to bridge the gap between engineering theory and physical execution —you want to see how big ideas become real structures. We believe the best engineers aren’t just great designers – they’re builders, problem-solvers, and leaders who understand how things come together in the field.
This is a true “boots and hard hat” experience where you’ll be a key part of a field crew, working Monday through Friday on active project sites. You’ll “pack your bags” Monday morning, hit the road, and spend the week building alongside experienced professionals. This internship delivers an unfiltered, hands-on dive into geotechnical construction, teamwork, and real-world problem-solving, where every day brings something new to figure out and build.
Interns work closely with experienced professionals and are encouraged to ask questions, take initiative, and grow their technical and professional skill sets.
What You’ll Do
- Work with field crews, gaining hands-on experience in the construction of geotechnical systems such as soil nail walls, tiebacks and micropiles.
- Support the Jobsite Superintendent & Foreman in day-to-day operations, site logistics, and safety protocols.
- Observe and assist with field-level quality control and load testing procedures
- Verify that field activities align with approved drawings and specifications to understand the relationship between design and constructability.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong attention to detail and a desire to understand the physical mechanics of engineering
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-activity field environment.
- Willingness to take initiative and learn from experienced field professionals.
- Comfort performing manual labor outdoors in varying weather conditions and rugged terrain.
- Possess valid current driver’s license with a good driving record.
Required Qualifications
-
- Enrolled in a Bachelors Degree program in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Emphasis of Geotechnical specialization is a plus, but not required.
